Veterans For Peace’s Golden Rule sailing through Great Lakes state with message of nuclear disarmament
The Veterans For Peace Boat Golden Rule will soon be visible from the shores of Lake St. Clair.
The ship and its crew are sailing on a 15-month voyage around the country to raise awareness about the growing danger of nuclear war and to build support for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
The storied ship is expected to arrive in Detroit by Aug. 13 and possibly dock in St. Clair on its way up to Traverse City.
“We are in Erie, Pa. now,” said Helen Jaccard, project manager and one of two crew members including her husband Gerry following the ship from the shore in a Recreational Vehicle. “Our travels in the RV are specifically for supporting the boat and crew.”
